Summary of our Core Beliefs
|
1. GOD AND HIS WORD
The Bible is the true, perfect, powerful, equipping Word of God and authoritative
pattern for life, faith, and practice.
God is sovereign and exists eternally as one God in three Persons: Father, Son,
and Holy Spirit.
God created the universe, all things visible and invisible, including humankind.
Jesus is the risen Christ, the Son of the Living God, and our personal Lord and
Savior. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life – the only means of reconciliation
with God.
The Holy Spirit is our indwelling Counselor, guiding us in holy living.
2. HUMANITY AND RECONCILIATION TO GOD
All people have separated themselves from God by their sin. Yet God desires all
to be saved from sin and reconciled to Him.
Our adversary and accuser, Satan, exists and seeks our destruction, but God will
prevail.
To be saved from sin and reconciled to God, we must accept God’s gracious gift
of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
Accepting God’s saving grace requires personal faith in and confession of
Jesus, and true repentance of sin. A new believer is then baptized (immersed) to
identify with Christ.
Those saved will be resurrected to eternal life, and those unsaved will be
resurrected to eternal damnation.
3. CHRISTIAN LIVING AND THE CHURCH
Those saved by Jesus are united as “the church,” over which He reigns with all
authority.
The church collectively remembers Christ through regularly celebrated
communion.
Each Christian is prepared by God to do good works, empowered with one or
more spiritual gift, and called to love, service, stewardship, relationship, and
holiness.
The Elders exercise authority, under Jesus Christ, as overseers and shepherds.
The Deacons minister to needs, as servant leaders.
Our main purposes are to be, and to make, disciple-making disciples of Jesus
Christ.
